West Ham in for England international midfielder

Premier League side West Ham United could still make a move for former Queens Park Rangers midfielder Joey Barton, according to Tom Hopkinson of the Sunday People. The Englishman was set to make the move to Upton Park, only for the home faithful to prevent any done deal occurring.

With Alex Song failing his medical, Barton may be deemed as an emergency replacement for the defensive midfielder. However, the former is still expected to join the Boleyn Ground club from Barcelona. Tom Huddlestone has also been linked with a move, but this would appear to be unlikely now.

Barton was rather close to joining West Ham earlier in the month, with a medical being passed in addition to the 32-year-old willing to make the move. He has one international cap for England, from 2007.

However, the claret and blue fans showed mass pressure with regards to the deal, and it was subsequently called off. Could there be another twist in the saga?
