After an initial bid of five million euros was rejected by Galatasaray, West Ham are set to up their offer for front-man Burak Yilmaz to seven million euros, in the hope of luring the Turkish international to the Boleyn Ground.
The Turkish giants confirmed in a statement today that the Hammers had made a bid for the striker, but maintained that they do not want to sell. The club also stated that their man is yet to issue a formal transfer request.
“Burak Yilmaz has not made a transfer request and we want to keep hold of him.”
However, NTV Spor have claimed that the London club will be increasing their offer for Yilmaz, with Slaven Bilic – a man who knows Turkish football well having previously been Besiktas boss – keen on the idea of bringing the 30-year old to the Premier League.
Yilmaz has been a Galatasaray player since 2012 and has bagged 58 goals in 87 appearances for the Istanbul club. He has also scored 18 times at international level, picking up 40 caps for his native Turkey.
