West Ham have agreed terms with QPR goalkeeper Rob Green for his return to the club.
The 35-year-old shot-stopper was looked at by the Hammers as a contingency plan for Adrian following his red card against Leicester last week.
Slaven Bilic had already brought in Darren Randolph from Birmingham to be the club’s number two behind the Spaniard, but the Ireland international has failed to impress in pre-season and in the Europa League.
Green’s £50,000-a-week wages are too much for a Championship side to handle, and QPR want rid of him to balance the books.
The R’s signed promising goalkeeper Alex Smithies today from Huddersfield, which spelled the end of Green’s three-year tenure in West London.
Green spent six years at Upton Park before joining Rangers in 2012 on a free transfer, and was instrumental in our promotion campaign.
The Mirror say that the Hammers hope to wrap up Green’s transfer in time for him to play in Saturday’s game v Bournemouth.
