West Ham are being backed to complete a deal to sign Carlos Vela from Real Sociedad this summer, despite interest from Atletico Madrid and Wolfsburg.
The Hammers were first linked with a move for the former Arsenal striker several months ago during the midst of their manager search to replace Sam Allardyce.
The idea was for the Mexican forward to follow former Everton and Manchester United manager David Moyes from Spain back to England at West Ham, but Moyes was not named manager and our interest seemed to fade.
However, that was not the case, as last month it was claimed that the Hammers had met the 26-year-old’s release clause in his contract, a whopping £21m which would be a club-record fee should he agree to come, but the player declined our advances, as well as those from Wolfsburg and Atletico Madrid.

Bet Victor have West Ham at a shortest price of 6/1 to sign the versatile forward, who can also play on either wing, along with Wolfsburg and Atletico Madrid who are also at 6/1.
Vela spent time on loan at West Brom, Celta Vigo, Salamanca and Osasuna before signed with Real Sociedad, where he has really flourished, scoring 57 goals and recording 37 assists in 158 games for the club since 2012.
The Mexican international could be the type of forward West Ham are looking for, as they struggle to get deals over line for QPR’s Charlie Austin, Fenerbahce’s Moussa Sow and Manchester United’s Javier Hernandez. He’s fast, creative and versatile, all key traits needed in a prolific striker.
