West Ham have failed with a late bid to sign Italian right-back Danilo D’Ambrosio from Internazionale, according to Calciomercato.
D’Ambrosio sought assurances from Roberto Mancini that he would be first choice, however, the former City boss couldn’t guarantee the 26-year-old first-team football so he set his sights on a move away.
The Hammers had hoped to lure the want away Italian to Upton Park with the potential lure of Europa League football and a lucrative pay packet, but Danilo has his heart set on a move to Germany.
He has agreed personal terms with Schalke and, although the Bundesliga outfit haven’t agreed a fee with Inter, they are hopeful of a breakthrough in the coming days.
In other news, West Ham await a hearing with the FA regarding the work permit of new loan signing Raul Jimenez. A deal has been agreed with the player and his current employers Atletico Madrid.
Jimenez is a much-needed signing for the Hammers, following the news of Enner Valencia’s knee and ankle injuries which could leave him sidelined for up to twelve weeks.
