West Ham are hoping they can complete the signing of Barcelona midfielder Alex Song before the start of the season.
Song spent last season on-loan at Upton Park and caught the eye of many throughout the season, and Slaven Bilic wants to bring the Cameroonian back on a permanent basis.
However, Barcelona are holding up the deal, as they want a small fee for the transfer, whereas the Hammers are hoping for a free transfer having already agreed terms to a contract with Song.
Manager Luis Enrique has no plans to use Song in the first-team, and would be happy for a resolution to happen sooner rather than later.
Sport Witness, who quote Spanish source Mundo Deportivo, say that the 27-year-old, who flew to Barcelona last week for talks with club officials, again returned to the club facility in order to kick-start a potential move.
Song is a big fan of the London area, and wants to move back to England and West Ham, and is hoping he can persuade the club to sanction his move to please all parties.
The midfielder wouldn’t feature for the Hammers for some time, as he continues his recovery from an ankle operation.
