Jimenez Agrees West Ham Loan

West Ham have agreed a deal with Atletico Madrid for the signing for striker Raúl Jiménez, according to Spanish source AS.

The 24-year-old, who was also linked with a move to Porto and Benfica, has agreed to come to Upton Park for its farewell season.

The Hammers were initially pushing to sign the Mexican international forward on a permanent transfer, which Atletico were satisfied with and put the proposal forward to the player.

However, Jiménez was against a permanent transfer, as he believes his long-term future still remains in Spain but agreed to a one-year loan to West Ham.

After the injury to Enner Valencia which could see him out for up to six months, Slaven Bilic decided he needed to push through a move for a striker before the start of the season, thus the quick resolution to Jiménez’s transfer.

The striker signed for Atletico last summer for £7.25m from Mexican side Club America, but only scored one goal in 21 appearances for the club after a successful spell in his homeland, where he scored 31 in 82 games for the Liga MX outfit.
