McClaren Eyes Diafra Sakho

Steve McClaren is lining up a shock move to sign West Ham striker Diafra Sakho for Newcastle, reports the Daily Mail.

The Senegalese international forward signed for the Hammers last summer on a four-year deal from Ligue 1 side FC Metz in a £4m move, and was the club’s top scorer with 12 goals.

McClaren is hoping to conclude a £9m deal for Wolfsburg striker Bas Dost, as well as a bold move for West Brom’s highly-rated young forward Saido Berahino, but Sakho remains an alternative.

Newcastle have seemingly pulled out of the race to sign £15m-rated QPR striker Charlie Austin, as he nears a move to West Ham as the Hammers enter pole position to sign the player.
