Hammers Move For Eder

Inter Milan have joined West Ham in the chase for Sampdoria striker Eder, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

Eder has enjoyed a successful season in Italy – netting twelve times in 30 appearances for la Samp, as well as making his debut for the national team.

As a result, Inter – who are preparing for a serious push for European qualification next season – have reignited their interest in the 28-year-old. However, with the potential of Europa League football at Upton Park next season, East London appears the most likely destination for Eder.

West Ham have already tabled an €8million bid for Eder but, with a number of potential suitors expected to come calling, Sampdoria are expected to hold out for a bid matching their €10million asking price.

One potential stumbling block that could scupper any move is that Sampdoria could still qualify for the Europa League – if Genoa lose their appeal for a UEFA license.

The Irons came across Eder whilst scouting long-term target Pedro Obiang, who they still remain hopeful of finalising a deal for in the coming weeks.

Should they fail in their attempt to land the Italian international, the Hammers are expected to turn their attentions to French free agent Andre-Pierre Gignac. The 29-year-old has attracted attention from a number of clubs, including Newcastle and Dynamo Moscow, but has recently revealed that he is yet to sign a pre-contract with any club.

“I have no agreement, with any club whatsoever. I can assure you of that,” he confirmed.
