Ayew ‘In Talks’ With Hammers

West Ham have opened talks with Marseille winger Andre Ayew over a free transfer move this summer, claims reports from Italy today.

The Ghanaian attacker will be leaving Marseille at the end of the season when his contract expires, and is not short of suitors.

West Ham, Tottenham, Everton and Newcastle have all been linked with him, while a move to Italy to join Roma has also been talked about.

Ayew recently spoke about his playing future, indicating that he would be leaving the club.

“Leaving Marseille? In all honesty, it was a difficult decision to make but I’ve made it together with Vincent Labrune.

“We discussed it at length, but I realized that we weren’t sure if we can play the game with teams like PSG and Monaco. “The president tried to do everything to keep me, but the financial situation in Marseille makes it difficult to pay certain salaries.

“Where will I go? I still do not know where I will play. I like the Italian league, but I prefer the English league.” – Ayew is quoted as saying.

The 25-year-old has 10 goals in 27 appearances playing off the wing, and would certainly be a major upgrade over Matt Jarvis and Morgan Amalfitano.
