West Ham 1-3 West Brom: Full-time whistle report

London Stadium, home of West Ham United

West Ham were out of sorts and out of answers at the London Stadium today, as West Brom condemned Nuno Espírito Santo’s side to another home defeat.

It’s a result that puts added pressure on the Portuguese coach, with the confidence of recent weeks now evaporated.

West Brom produced a clinical away performance, with the Baggies taking the lead in the 20th minute when Felix Horn Myhre finished neatly, assisted by Jimmy-Jay Morgan.

Jarrod Bowen restored parity nine minutes later, converting a chance set up by Mohamadou Kanté to make it 1-1 at half-time.

West Brom regained the advantage early in the second half.

Morgan turned provider into scorer, netting in the 48th minute after good work from Myhre. Callum Styles then sealed the win in the 72nd minute, firing home from the left side of the box following a corner.

West Ham had more possession and created several openings but were unable to break down a well-organised West Brom defence for a second time.

The visitors were more clinical, converting three of four big chances while the hosts managed none, according to FotMob stats.

The result lifts West Brom into fourth in the Championship table, while the Hammers plummet to eighth place, leaving Nuno reflecting on another home defeat, after conceding first, seven days after the same outcome against Southampton.
