West Ham make surprise Roma raid after Melvin Bard snub

West Ham United have launched a late Deadline Day move for Roma left-back Anass Salah-Eddine, submitting an offer to sign the 24-year-old on a season-long loan.

The Athletic reports that West Ham have made a formal proposal as Nuno Espírito Santo continues searching for another option on the left side of defence.

Salah-Eddine is back at Roma after spending last season on loan at PSV Eindhoven.

West Ham move for Salah-Eddine

Roma originally signed Salah-Eddine permanently from FC Twente in February 2025 before sending him to PSV six months later.

The Dutch champions held an €8million option to buy, but Fabrizio Romano reported that the move did not become permanent after PSV failed to agree terms with the player.

That has opened the door for another loan.

West Ham’s interest comes after Melvin Bard chose Leeds despite an offer from the Hammers and Torino were told Ollie Scarles would not be allowed to leave.

No agreement with Roma has been reported yet.

But with a formal loan offer now submitted, West Ham have opened another route to solving Nuno’s left-back problem before tonight’s 11pm deadline.
