West Ham United have completed the signing of Divine Mukasa on a season-long loan from Manchester City, bringing the highly-rated attacking midfielder back to the club where he spent a decade in the academy.
The Hammers have now officially secured the 18-year-old after an agreement was reached with Manchester City on Thursday.
Mukasa joins for the remainder of the 2026/27 campaign, with Fabrizio Romano previously reporting that the agreement is a straight loan with no option to buy.
His arrival gives Nuno Espírito Santo another creative option as West Ham target an immediate return to the Premier League.
Divine Mukasa completes West Ham return
Mukasa’s move represents a homecoming three years after he left West Ham for Manchester City.
Born in Newham, he joined the Academy of Football aged six and progressed as far as the U21 side.
Mukasa was also part of West Ham’s 2023 FA Youth Cup-winning squad before making the switch to Manchester.
His development has accelerated since.
Manchester City handed Mukasa his senior debut against Huddersfield Town in the Carabao Cup last September, when he assisted Phil Foden’s opening goal.
He went on to make another five first-team appearances before spending the second half of last season on loan at Leicester City.
That spell also gave Mukasa valuable Championship experience, with the youngster making 15 league appearances before returning to City.
Nuno gains another attacking option
Mukasa now joins a West Ham squad which has already been strengthened significantly this week.
Joel Piroe completed his move from Leeds United on Wednesday, while £22million midfielder Arne Engels is also available after missing the Championship opener at Burnley.
Mukasa offers something slightly different.
He can operate as an attacking midfielder or in wider areas and arrives with senior experience despite not turning 19 until Saturday.
Manchester City retain control of his long-term future, having tied him to a contract running until 2030 earlier this summer.
For West Ham, the immediate priority is promotion.
Mukasa has now returned to the club which helped develop him with the opportunity to play an important role in achieving exactly that.
