West Ham face late Axel Disasi wait as Chelsea defender stalls decision

West Ham United are continuing to wait for Axel Disasi to decide whether he is prepared to return to east London, with the club’s search for a centre-back now potentially running deep into the transfer window.

The latest Axel Disasi West Ham transfer update comes from ExWHUEmployee, who reports that the Hammers are still waiting on the Chelsea defender as well as several alternative targets.

Unless there is a significant change of stance, West Ham are now expected to resolve the position later in the window rather than securing an immediate defensive addition.

Axel Disasi West Ham transfer remains unresolved

Disasi spent the second half of last season on loan at West Ham and remains a player Nuno Espírito Santo knows well.

West Ham have been trying to bring the France international back during the summer, but convincing him to drop into the Championship has proved difficult.

ReadWestHam reported in July that West Ham had made contact over a Disasi return, with the defender at that stage preferring to remain in a top division.

That stance appears to remain the central obstacle.

ExWHUEmployee now reports that West Ham are continuing to wait for Disasi and other centre-back targets to make decisions over their futures. A signing in the position is therefore considered likely to arrive later in the window unless one of those players changes position.

West Ham have already explored alternatives.

ReadWestHam previously reported that Leicester City defender Ben Nelson had emerged as a possible Disasi alternative, with the Hammers forced to consider other options while their preferred targets weighed up their futures.

Disasi would offer obvious advantages if West Ham can eventually convince him.

He already understands Nuno’s demands, knows the dressing room and would require less adaptation than a defender arriving in England for the first time.

However, waiting carries risk.

A Championship promotion campaign places significant demands on squad depth, and Nuno will want greater certainty at centre-back as quickly as possible.

West Ham’s interest in Disasi therefore remains alive, but the latest update suggests patience may be required before there is a decisive breakthrough.
