West Ham v Portsmouth takes place at London Stadium on Saturday as Nuno Espírito Santo’s side begin their competitive 2026/27 campaign in the first round of the Carabao Cup.
The Hammers completed an unbeaten pre-season programme and now face Championship opposition one week before their league opener against Burnley.
West Ham’s official ticket information confirms that the game will kick off at 3pm BST on Saturday 8 August at London Stadium.
West Ham v Portsmouth: How to watch on TV
Supporters unable to attend West Ham v Portsmouth can watch the tie live in the UK on Sky Sports+.
The fixture is among the Carabao Cup matches being shown through Sky Sports+ at 3pm on Saturday, with the current UK television schedule listing West Ham against Portsmouth among the live games.
It will be West Ham’s first competitive examination since relegation from the Premier League.
Nuno used pre-season to assess several younger players alongside his senior squad, but Saturday should offer a clearer indication of the side he intends to take into the Championship campaign.
There has also been encouraging news ahead of the tie. ReadWestHam reported on Thursday that Portsmouth’s preparations have been disrupted by several availability issues, potentially giving Nuno an additional advantage at London Stadium.
West Ham should still expect a competitive encounter against a Portsmouth side preparing for the same Championship season.
For Nuno, West Ham v Portsmouth provides an opportunity to build momentum, progress in the cup and make some final selection decisions before the trip to Burnley.
