West Ham United have reportedly received an official €46million offer from Roma for Crysencio Summerville.
The improved proposal takes the Serie A club close to the £40m figure reportedly required to sign the winger following West Ham’s relegation.
According to Sport Witness, relaying Gianluca Di Marzio, Summerville has also approved the move in principle after being impressed by Roma’s sporting project.
The financial details of his proposed contract still need to be completed, but the 24-year-old is said to have “never been this close” to joining the Italian club.
West Ham move closer to major Summerville decision
Roma’s new bid represents a significant increase from their opening proposal, which fell short of West Ham’s reported demands.
As Read West Ham reported earlier this week, the Italian club had been preparing a package worth around €45m while Aston Villa continued to monitor the Netherlands international.
The latest offer now places pressure on West Ham to decide whether its structure is acceptable.
A sale would provide Nuno Espírito Santo with considerable funds to strengthen his squad. West Ham already need another wide attacker, while the departure of Mateus Fernandes has also left a creative gap in midfield.
Summerville would be difficult to replace. His pace and ability to create chances could make him one of the Championship’s most dangerous attackers next season.
However, the winger appears open to playing Champions League football with Roma. West Ham must now either complete the sale quickly or make clear that their valuation has still not been met.
