Roma are reportedly ready to offer €45million for Crysencio Summerville as they push to reach an agreement with West Ham United.
Gianluca Di Marzio reports that the Serie A club have made the Netherlands international one of their leading attacking targets.
Roma have already spoken to Summerville’s representatives and are now expected to increase their efforts at club level.
Their proposed €45m package would be worth around £39m. It would represent an improvement on the figures discussed earlier in the week, but may still fall below West Ham’s valuation.
Sport Witness reports that Roma have opened formal discussions with the winger’s entourage, although the clubs have not yet reached an agreement.
West Ham gain leverage as Aston Villa monitor Summerville
Aston Villa are also following Summerville closely as Unai Emery looks to strengthen his attacking options.
The Premier League club have been linked with the 24-year-old throughout the summer and could provide serious competition if they make a formal approach.
Interest from Villa strengthens West Ham’s negotiating position. The Hammers do not need to accept Roma’s proposal while several clubs remain in the race.
As Read West Ham reported after Roma’s opening move, the club rejected a package worth around £34m and continued to demand more for one of Nuno Espírito Santo’s most valuable players.
Summerville remains under a long-term contract and would be one of the Championship’s most dangerous attackers if he stayed.
However, his performances for West Ham and the Netherlands have attracted interest from clubs able to offer top-flight and European football.
Roma’s improved position could move negotiations forward, but West Ham should continue to hold firm while Aston Villa and other Premier League sides remain interested.
