West Ham United are reportedly monitoring four Celtic players as recruitment director Nils Koppen begins shaping the club’s summer transfer plans.
Arne Engels, Benjamin Nygren, Daizen Maeda and Reo Hatate have all emerged as potential options for Nuno Espírito Santo’s squad.
The Hammers are also keeping an eye on players at Rangers, where Koppen previously worked as head of scouting and technical director.
According to ExWHUEmployee’s update relayed by West Ham Central, Koppen’s knowledge of the Scottish market could influence West Ham’s recruitment during the remainder of the window.
No bids or formal approaches have been reported for any of the four Celtic players.
Koppen begins shaping West Ham shortlist
Engels would provide energy and versatility in central midfield, while Hatate offers creativity and experience.
Nygren can operate in several attacking roles and finished last season as one of Celtic’s leading scorers. Maeda would bring pace, pressing intensity and the ability to play across the forward line.
Celtic could face offers for several important players this summer. Martin O’Neill has acknowledged departures are possible, although the Scottish champions remain in a strong position over most of their squad.
As Read West Ham previously reported, the club had already begun exploring Celtic options after missing out on an unnamed priority target.
West Ham’s relegation has created a need for players capable of making an immediate impact while retaining value for the future.
The club are also interested in targets attracting Premier League attention, suggesting Koppen is prepared to compete for players despite West Ham’s Championship status.
For now, the Celtic names remain options rather than active deals. However, Koppen’s arrival has clearly widened West Ham’s recruitment focus towards a market he knows well.
