West Ham United Line Up Summer Bid For Harrison Burrows

West Ham United are reportedly preparing a move for Sheffield United left-back Harrison Burrows as contingency planning around El Hadji Malick Diouf continues.

Hammers Headlines reports that West Ham are lining up a bid for Burrows, with Alan Nixon credited for the claim. Hammers News has also reported that the Hammers see the Sheffield United defender as an ideal option for their Championship campaign, with an offer expected in the coming weeks.

Burrows, 24, gives West Ham a clear profile. FotMob lists him with five goals and four assists in the 2025/26 Championship season, with his Sheffield United contract lasting until June 2028.

The link also fits the Diouf picture. Football League World reported in May that West Ham had identified Burrows as a possible replacement for Diouf, with the Senegal international expected to attract interest after relegation.

Nuno Needs A Left-Back Plan

West Ham do not have to sell Diouf, but they need a plan in place if the market moves quickly.

The Guardian reported in April that Manchester United were considering a move for Diouf as they assessed left-back options. That kind of interest makes succession planning essential, especially with West Ham preparing for a Championship season where the squad needs clarity early.

Burrows would not arrive as a glamour signing, but his Championship output explains the appeal. He offers left-sided delivery, attacking production and experience at the level West Ham now need to escape.

Nuno Espirito Santo needs full-backs who can help the team control games rather than simply defend the back post. Burrows’ numbers from last season suggest he can contribute in the final third, which matters if West Ham lose Diouf’s ball-carrying and crossing from the left.

ReadWestHam has already covered why Burrows made sense as a Diouf replacement earlier in the window. The fresh bid claim now gives the story a more practical edge.
