- West Ham will play in the Championship next season
- Paco Jemez joined the backroom staff and made a serious impact
- The coach is now expected to leave the Hammers staff
West Ham United are facing an uncertain summer as they prepare for life in the Championship for the first time in 14 years.
The Hammers relegation has arguably been a long time coming, with the West Ham team of this season, looking significantly better than that of the first. Unfortunately, it was not enough to keep the Irons in the Premier League, and significant change is expected going into this one.
Nuno Espirito Santo has committed his future to the club but the Hammers will have to sell a number of players this summer. The Irons have to raise at least £150 million, making the task of building a promotion challenging squad all that harder.
Paco Jemez appears to confirm exit from West Ham
Paco Jemez joined West Ham as part of Nuno’s backroom staff in January. At the time, the Hammers looked doomed but the addition of Jemez, alongside defender Axel Disasi helped change the team’s fortunes and gave them a fighting chance of staying up.
After losing 3-2 to Chelsea, the Irons would go on a strong winning run, and even looked the favourites to stay up over Tottenham Hotspur.
Whilst Nuno and his team failed to keep West Ham up, there was hope Jemez, who has had a big impact would remain at the club if Nuno did. Unfortunately, it now looks as though the coach will depart given his statement on social media.
The Hammers are expected to bring in more of Nuno’s other coaches, allowing him to build a fuller version of his own backroom team. Regardless, the loss of Jemez, given his impact, could have a big impact on what will be a massive season for West Ham.
