Opposition camp: Brentford injury update ahead of West Ham clash

Share
  • West Ham play Brentford tomorrow at 3PM BST
  • The Bees have battled with injuries during their winless run
  • The Hammers are currently above the relegation zone

West Ham United make the short trip to Gtech Community Stadium on Saturday lunchtime in a London clash with a chance to increase their Premier League survival chances. In their last outing, the Hammers capped off a productive April with a late home win against Everton, with their opposition winless in their last seven.

Under debut coach Keith Andrews, Brentford have flirted with European contention for much of the season but haven’t registered a win since February. Nuno Espirito Santo’s Hammers will be aiming to be the latest to sting the Bees in spring.

With Tottenham Hotspur right in the rearview mirror following their victory last weekend, West Ham knows maintaining their winning ways will pile the pressure on their relegation rivals, who play Aston Villa on Sunday night. The objective will be easier given the recently released injury update from the Bees camp.

Brentford remain hopeful on returning pair ahead of West Ham visit

Brentford’s recent outing away at Old Trafford saw Keith Andrews with a limited squad, featuring a relatively inexperienced bench. During the 2-1 defeat, Andrews made only one substitution despite his team being down by multiple goals on the night, and is expected to field a similar squad on Saturday.

Josh Dasilva returned to the matchday squad for the first time since January 2024 on Monday night but did not feature. “We’re very careful around how and when we train him. We still need to look after him really carefully,” Andrews told club channels about the decision around Dasilva.

Andrews also cited that midfield pair Vitaly Janelt and Jordan Henderson could also be in contention for the weekend following their respective absences. “Vitaly and Jordan are pretty close, so we’ll make a decision on that tomorrow, but they’ve made good progress,” Andrews said.

Elsewhere, Rico Henry remains out with a hamstring strain; Fábio Carvalho and Antoni Milambo are also out of the clash with ACL injuries.
