  • West Ham are currently two points above the Premier League’s bottom three
  • The Hammers are interested in Wolverhampton Wanderers defender, Santiago Bueno
  • The Irons beat Everton 2-1 on Saturday

West Ham United are in the driving seat when it comes to their Premier League status. The Hammers secured a dramatic 2-1 win over Everton on Saturday with the three points keeping them out of the bottom three and Tottenham Hotspur in it.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side firmly control their own destiny, but with four games of the league season left, there will be many more turns and twists before West Ham can confirm their safety. This weekend, the Irons head to Brentford, in what will be another difficult test for the East London club.

Now, with the Hammers in pole position for top flight safety, the club are looking at summer recruits, with one defender, who they have just faced, on the list at a cut-price fee.

West Ham target move for Wolves defender Santiago Bueno

According to report by Sports Witness, West Ham are among a group of Premier League sides looking into a move for Wolverhampton Wanderers defender, Santiago Bueno.

The Uruguayan defender has made 66 top flight appearances since joining Wolves in 2023. Initially, Bueno took his time to find his feet in England but has been one of the high points of the last two seasons in which Wolves have performed well below par.

Now, the 27-year-old is likely to move on, with little desire to play in the Championship and being one of the higher earners at the midlands club.

West Ham, Leeds United and Crystal Palace are all interested in the central defender, who could be available for a cut price, given Wolves’ relegation.

Bueno represents a great option for the Hammers, with defence being an area of need and costs being a factor. Should the Irons stay in the Premier League this season, the 27-year-old could be a top option for the club.

matchday.
