  • West Ham are interested in River Plate defender, Lautaro Rivero
  • Leeds United are also interested in the player
  • The 22-year-old is expected to move to Europe soon

West Ham United are firmly in a Premier League survival fight this season. A 4-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers has seen Nuno Espirito Santo’s side out of the bottom three, with a two point gap over Tottenham Hotspur, who the Hammers but in the relegation zone.

Nuno has overseen a revolution at West Ham, giving what looked like a doomed team, a new lease of life. The Hammers used the January transfer window to their advantage, bringing several players who have been integral to the team’s form since.

The likes of Axel Disasi and Valentin Castellanos came through the door at the London Stadium and have both been so important to getting the side into a better position. Whilst survival is priority number one, the club’s hierarchy are already planning for summer recruitment, even if it is on a budget.

A new name on the list, is River Plate defender, Lautaro Rivero. The Irons are likely to be in the market for defensive improvements and 22-year-old Rivero fits the bill alongside the team’s new South American transfer drive.

West Ham interested in River Plate’s Lautaro Rivero

22-year-old Rivero has just signed a new deal with the Argentinian side but it has not deterred interest from Europe, with West Ham being one of the names. According to TYC Sports, River Plate are expecting offers for the players and are open to selling the player, for the right price.

The central defender can play in a number of positions, including left-back. The left-footed player offers not only a lot of quality, but leaps of potential at just 22.

Rivero’s performances at River Plate have earned the young defender an Argentina call up as he continues to make waves in his home nation. A move to Europe appears a matter of time for the player, with West Ham being one of the early suitors for the 22-year-old.

Leeds United are also interested in the defender and asking price could be a problem. Nonetheless, the Hammers name is in the hat as summer recruitment plans continue to take place.
