- West Ham and Aston Villa are interested in Celta Vigo’s Oscar Migueza
- The full-back is out of contract this summer
- Mingueza has English agents and is keen on a move to the Premier League
West Ham United continue to make plans for this summer, despite their Premier League position. The Hammers are ready to strengthen in low cost ways as they hope the team can do the business and stay in the top flight.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s team have joined Aston Villa in monitoring Celta Vigo full-back, Oscar Mingueza. The 26-year-old is out of contract this summer and whilst the La Liga club were looking to keep hold of him, that now looks unlikely and the player is set to be a free agent.
Mingueza has been a mainstay in Celta Vigo’s team this year, with his form having him on the fringes of a return to the Spanish national team. The former Barcelona player is said to be on the lookout for a new challenge and other leagues are calling.
According to Estadio Deportivo, both West Ham and Aston Villa are interested in the player. Mingueza has English agents and is said to be keen on a move to the Premier League, though Unai Emery and his Spanish links mean’s Villa currently lead the race.
Who is Oscar Mingueza?
Mingueza is another prospect that came through Barcelona’s famous La Masia academy. Born in the city itself, the now 26-year-old joined the club at the age of 15 and work his way through the ranks.
After making his debut for the senior team in 2020, the full-back would go on to make 66 appearances for the Blaugrana before eventually move on in search of guaranteed first-team football.
Staying in La Liga was the call, as Mingueza made the move to Celta Viga, where he has made more than 130 appearances since the move in 2022.
Oscar Mingueza’s 2025/26 Celta Vigo Statistics
| Appearances | Goals | Assists |
| 37 | 1 | 6 |
The 26-year-old is a versatile wide man who can play anywhere on the left-hand side. Often used in the wing-back role, Mingueza mirrors a lot of the traits that El Hadji Malick Diouf comes with. That includes a solid stature, strong pace and the nature to cross the ball, getting it to the attackers early.
A move looks almost a surety for the player and West Ham would do well to bring in a player this good, for such little cost. Nuno will hope that should he keep the Hammers up, he can entice Mingueza to the London Stadium.
