- West Ham are interested in Bologna forward Santiago Castro
- Italian giants, AC Milan are also reportedly interested
- West Ham are currently one point from safety in the Premier League
West Ham United are fighting for their lives in the Premier League, sitting one point from safety after a 2-0 loss to Aston Villa. The Hammers are aiming to stay up this season, and should they do so, are already looking at targets to improve their side.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s team spent big in January, bringing in Valentin Castellanos, Pablo Felipe and Axel Disasi. All three have had a positive impact on the team and West Ham would like to be able to continue making strong transfer moves this summer.
One player on the Hammers shortlist is Bologna striker, Santiago Castro. The 21-year-old has 11 goals for the Serie A this season and is also being looked at by fellow Premier League strugglers, Nottingham Forest.
According to Tuttosport, Italian giants AC Milan have joined the group of interested parties. The reports state that Massimiliano Allegri sent scouts out to watch the player, with a view to making contact in the next few months. Milan also have other targets on their list, leaving the door slightly open for other teams.
West Ham are hoping they can use Premier League football to secure the services of Castro, alongside giving him a bigger first-team role than the likes of Milan can offer him.
Who is Santiago Castro?
21-year-old Castro joined Bologna in January of 2024 and has gone on to become one of Serie A’s most exciting front men. The youngster may have been slow to get going, but has now cemented his place in the side, scoring 11 goals this season after 10 last campaign.
Santiago Castro’s 2025/26 Bologna Statistics
| Appearances | Goals | Assists |
| 41 | 11 | 3 |
Castro has slowly become an integral part of the Bologna squad over the last two years with his goal scoring ability and physical stature bringing in interest from around Europe. This season’s performances from the forward have seen him called up to the Argentinian senior squad, but he is yet to receive his first cap.
Bologna have named a price tag of £40m, but that does not have seemed to deter suitors like West Ham. Should the Hammers secure survival, Castro could be one of the more exciting names to watch this summer.
