West Ham United confirmed their progression to the FA Cup quarter final’s in dramatic fashion. The Hammers were taken to penalties by Brentford at the London Stadium, netting five perfect spot kicks to get through in the competition.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s team led twice in the game, with captain Jarrod Bowen finding the net twice. Keith Andrew’s Bees hit back with two goals from top scorer Igor Thiago but West Ham would outlast their opponent’s, dominating the shootout and doing their job whilst Dango Ouattara failed to chip Alphonse Areola.

The victory put West Ham in the hat alongside Manchester City, Liverpool, Leeds United, Southampton, Port Vale, Chelsea and Arsenal.

The Hammers came out of the hat first, dubbing a home tie with fellow Premier League side Leeds United.

West Ham’s FA Cup quarter final date

The Hammers home tie with Leeds United is now due to take place on the Sunday on the weekend commencing 4th April. West Ham will kick off at 4:30pm as they take on Leeds United for a place in the semi finals and a trip to Wembley.

Nuno’s team have faced Leeds once this season. The Irons went to Elland Road in October and lost 2-1 in a difficult period for West Ham. Mateus Fernandes netted a late goal in the game but it was too late, as goals from Brendan Aaronson and Joe Rodon had already secured the victory for Daniel Farke’s Lilywhites.

This will be Leeds first trip to the London Stadium since 2023, when they lost 3-1 and were relegated from the Premier League that season.

In 2026, Leeds could still fall back into a relegation fight but West Ham will hope they don’t, given the Hammers will take on the Lilywhites for a third time on the final day of the season. That game could be huge for Nuno’s men, so the Irons will hope Leeds are on holiday well before this tie and the end of the season.
