West Ham United are reportedly keen to bring Axel Disasi back to the club, although competition for the Chelsea defender could make a deal difficult.
ExWHUEmployee, via The West Ham Way, reports that Disasi remains firmly on West Ham’s radar after his loan spell at the London Stadium last season.
The update adds that a return will not be easy, with several other clubs also keen on the 28-year-old.
Disasi joined West Ham on loan from Chelsea in February. West Ham confirmed the deal at the time, with the France international moving until the end of the 2025/26 season.
The Guardian reported that the loan was agreed without an option to buy, meaning West Ham now have to reopen talks if they want him back permanently or on another temporary deal.
Nuno Needs Defensive Certainty
Disasi’s appeal is clear for West Ham. He already knows the club, has worked under Nuno Espirito Santo and would not need the same adaptation period as a new arrival.
ReadWestHam has already covered how Nuno and Nils Koppen are expected to accelerate transfer plans once the club’s recruitment profile is agreed.
A centre-back with Premier League experience fits that brief. West Ham need players who can handle the Championship immediately, but still look useful if promotion is secured.
The difficulty is Chelsea’s position. Disasi still has a long contract at Stamford Bridge and Chelsea are expected to prefer a clean sale if possible.
There is also outside competition. That gives West Ham less room to wait, especially if rival clubs can offer top-flight football.
For Nuno, the logic of a return is obvious. Disasi would bring size, defensive experience and familiarity at a point when West Ham need stability.
The question is whether West Ham can make the numbers work. Interest is clear, but this does not look like a simple deal.
