West Ham United are expected to start making transfer moves next week once Nuno Espirito Santo and Nils Koppen have aligned on the club’s recruitment plan.
ExWHUEmployee reports that West Ham should begin moving for targets after Nuno and Koppen meet in person and finalise the type of players they want.
The update gives West Ham a clearer recruitment timeline after a slow start to the window. It also places Koppen’s arrival at the centre of the club’s Championship rebuild.
West Ham confirmed Koppen as director of player recruitment earlier this month, subject to the appropriate work visa being secured.
ReadWestHam has already covered why Koppen’s appointment gives West Ham a clearer recruitment chain after relegation.
Nuno And Koppen Need Fast Alignment
The timing is important. West Ham have already sold Mateus Fernandes to Tottenham, with Reuters reporting the deal was worth around £85m.
That sale gives the club spending power, but it also leaves Nuno short of creativity and midfield control.
The Guardian has also reported interest in Crysencio Summerville from Fulham, Chelsea and Manchester United, adding another possible exit issue to the rebuild.
West Ham cannot afford a scattered window. Nuno needs players who fit the Championship immediately, while Koppen must protect longer-term value.
That balance will decide the next phase of the summer. The club need promotion-ready additions, but not short-term signings with little resale logic.
Claret & Hugh have reported that Nuno is already facing pressure to add midfield quality after Fernandes’ exit and Tomas Soucek’s injury issue.
The next week could therefore shape the tone of West Ham’s rebuild. If Nuno and Koppen agree the profile quickly, the club can move with more purpose.
If not, the risk is obvious. West Ham have money, but the squad still needs clarity before pre-season turns into a Championship countdown.
