West Ham are reportedly ‘ready to target’ Norwich City midfielder, Todd Cantwell.
The Hammers could make a move for the 23-year-old as an alternative option to Jesse Lingard as the Manchester United man attracts plenty of interest.
Cantwell has made a quiet start to the Premier League season having scored seven and assisted two goals in the top flight in 2019/20.
According to a report from Claret and Hugh, as cited by RumorsTransfersNews24/7 on Twitter, West Ham are considering a January swoop.
The report claims that the four-cap England Under 21 starlet could be available at a ‘knockdown fee’ in the mid-season window.
So far this season Cantwell has made just five appearances for the Canaries but will be hoping for a change under reported new manager Dean Smith.
READ WEST HAM VERDICT
Valued at £19.8million and under contract until next summer (Transfermarkt), signing Cantwell at a reduced rate in January would be extraordinarily shrewd business from the Irons.
Clearly a talented player with plenty to offer at the top level, David Moyes’ squad would receive a welcome boost with this capture.
Capable of operating in various midfield positions, Cantwell would offer West Ham invaluable versatility.
Given the opportunity to sign either the Norwich starlet or Lingard, given the five year differential between them, it may be a no-brainer as a club decision.
