West Ham striker Michail Antonio scored his first international goal overnight as Jamaica drew 1-1 against El Salvador.
The 31-year-old Hammer has been turning heads all season and continued to do so when opting to represent the Caribbean nation earlier this year.
Many felt that the centre-forward’s form was close to earning England recognition but Antonio had already waited long enough for the opportunity.
Last night the ace felt some vindication for that decision as he broke the deadlock in San Salvador whilst earning his second cap.
Despite the lateness of Antonio’s strike, El Salvador still found time to muster an equaliser to leave Jamaica in sixth position in the CONCACAF World Cup qualifying stage.
This season the talismanic Iron has scored seven times and provided four assists in 13 appearances across all competitions for the Hammers.

Pace, power, determination and a deft finish. All characteristics that personify Antonio in recent times.
Although many Hammers would’ve loved seeing their man doing this for the Three Lions, few could begrudge the star a tilt on the international stage.
Thankfully given the striker’s worrying fitness levels Antonio only played the final 15 minutes. A trend West Ham fans will hope continues when Jamaica host the USA on Tuesday.
