Former West Ham winger Trevor Sinclair has once again been singing the praises of current Irons’ star Declan Rice.
The 22-year-old has made a sensational start to the new season and has been instrumental in guiding David Moyes’ side to rarely before seen heights.
Currently, the Hammers sit firmly inside the top four with a Carabao Cup quarter-final and a Europa League knockout adventure on the horizon.
Speaking on talkSPORT (Wednesday 10 November 11:20am), Sinclair was full of admiration for the early season form of Rice.
Look at the best performing holding midfielders in the country at the moment, Rice is one of the first names. This season he has taken it a step further, last season he held really well and picked his moments. But this season he has grown, his maturity levels, confidence levels and he’s bringing an all-around performance that could see him playing in a top, top team.
A recent detractor from West Ham, Simon Jordan, added to the take and whilst he suggested that the 27-cap England man would be a ‘wonderful’ fit for Manchester United, at present there is no reason for him to leave the London Stadium for Old Trafford.
Jordan went on to say that currently, Manchester United are not ‘deserving’ of taking Rice away from the Hammers.
So far this term Rice has earned an outstanding 7.42 Sofascore rating from 11 Premier League outings.
READ WEST HAM VERDICT
Whilst it’s a difficult pill to swallow it seems almost inevitable that owing to the Englishman’s levels of late, bids to at least test the east London water will be forthcoming.
How the club and indeed player act in the wake of such offers will be telling and at present, it would surely take way in excess of Rice’s £63million market value to twist the hierarchy’s arm.
In truth so long as West Ham continue to perform as they are currently, there is no reason for Rice to leave for Manchester or otherwise.
Undoubtedly a player worthy of operating amongst the very elite, it’s only should the standards slip that there may once again become a question regarding the ace’s future.
