West Ham reportedly maintain an interest in signing Fiorentina centre-back Nikola Milenkovic.
The Hammers were extensively linked with the 24-year-old during the summer but ultimately missed out on the capture.
Irons’ boss David Moyes instead opted to sign Kurt Zouma from Chelsea and the Frenchman has proven to be a superb capture.
However, according to a report from Calciomercato, as cited by RumorsTransfersNews24/7 on Twitter, West Ham are still keen on Milenkovic.
The report claims that Premier League club’s ‘remain attentive and ready to seize the opportunity’ to sign the 31-cap Serbia ace.
This season the man described as ‘extraordinary’ by Pol Lirola has earned an impressive 7.13 average Sofascore rating from 11 Serie A outings.
READ WEST HAM VERDICT
Valued at £22.5million and under contract in Florence until 2023 (Transfermarkt), signing Milenkovic at a bargain price would be shrewd business.
Despite being relatively well-stocked in the defensive department at present, both Craig Dawson and Angelo Ogbonna are on the wrong side of 30 and will need replacing in order to continue the progression at West Ham.
Boasting an array of key attributes for a central defender, Moyes would be wise to make a move for the Serb.
