Former Premier League striker Garth Crooks was full of praise for West Ham duo Pablo Fornals and Kurt Zouma.
The Hammers produced a scintillating display to beat Liverpool 3-2 at the London Stadium and David Moyes’ side were outstanding to a man.
However, writing in his BBC Sport team of the week column, Crooks singled out two Irons’ in particular for praise.
First and foremost, it’s a great header for his goal. Zouma rose at the back post to nod home what will go down as one of West Ham’s greatest victories over Liverpool. The irony of a former Everton player scoring against Liverpool – and putting a serious dent into their title challenge – won’t be lost on the blue side of Merseyside. I couldn’t believe what I was watching. Liverpool were outmuscled and outclassed. I don’t know what David Moyes is saying to his players but West Ham are flying. It was Fornals who seemed to be the striker causing Liverpool’s defence so much concern.
Both Fornals and Zouma were on the scoresheet for West Ham as Moyes’ men cemented their spot in the Premier League top four ahead of the international break.
Signed from Chelsea for £29.8million (Sky Sports), Zouma has earned a 7.03 Sofascore rating so far this season.
READ WEST HAM VERDICT
In truth Crooks could’ve picked almost a whole side made up of West Ham players.
Valued at £28.8million (Transfermarkt), the French defender has been a revelation in east London and continues to thrive as an Iron.
Meanwhile, Fornals is enjoying his best start to a season in a claret and blue shirt and has now become an integral part of Moyes’ plans.
