West Ham youngster Conor Coventry netted a first international goal over the weekend.
The 21-year-old scored for the Republic of Ireland at Under 21 level as Jim Crawford’s side overcame their Bosnia and Herzegovina counterparts 2-0 in Zenica on Friday.
Coventry wore the captain’s armband for the clash as the young Irish made a winning start to their European Championship qualifying campaign.
As capture by RTE Soccer on Twitter, the London-born midfielder capped off a sublime set-piece move to double the lead and secure all three points.
Currently on loan at Peterborough United following a deadline day switch, the Hammers academy graduate’s strike was his first in 28 international appearances across various youth levels.
Last season the energetic ace made one outing for David Moyes’ first-team whilst scoring five times and adding two assists in the 18 Premier League 2 appearances.

Coventry has been the talk of the youngsters at the London Stadium for some time and looked as though a chance could be on the cards this term prior to the late signing of Alex Kral.
Following the Czech Republic ace’s late arrival, a loan move to the Championship was the next best thing for Coventry and his development will make for fascinating viewing.
