West Ham first-team coach Stuart Pearce has been hailing the levels shown by centre-forward Michail Antonio.
The 31-year-old recently became the club’s leading Premier League goalscorer with a match-winning brace against Leicester City.
Despite often being used as a utility man early on in a hardworking route to the top, Antonio has established himself as one of the leading strikers in the country.
Speaking to talkSPORT, where Pearce also works as a pundit, the 59-year-old was full of praise for the new Jamaica international.
He’s shown a real level of consistency, over the last couple of years I’ve got to say. I signed him at Nottingham Forest as a winger, and it was at that level of consistency you are always striving for. His level of professionalism, his level of consistency have gone through the roof working under David and David’s really getting the best out of him. And I think from a mixed point of view, he’s really enjoying his football.

Antonio did make a long-awaited international bow over the weekend, albeit in a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Panama.
This season the talismanic forward has scored four and assisted three goals in the opening three league outings.

West Ham manager David Moyes certainly seems to have found a niche for the Jamaican ace to flourish within.
Staying fit has often been an issue in previous seasons, something all associated with the Hammers will hope doesn’t repeat itself in this term.
Valued at £10.8million and under contract until 2023 (Transfermarkt), the Irons will be looking to te their ever-improving star down in the not too distant future.
