Former Premier League striker Kevin Campbell has urged West Ham to sign Liverpool attacking midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain this summer.
This comes after the Hammers were dealt a blow to their hopes of signing Manchester United ace Jesse Lingard.
Instead, reliable club insider ExWHUemployee, told The West Ham Way podcast (July 24), that the Irons could make a move to sign Oxlade-Chamberlain on loan.
Speaking to Football Insider, Campbell called for West Ham to make an attempt to sign the 27-year-old.
He’s quick and direct. He’s the type of player that would definitely suit West Ham. I’m not saying he’s a goalscorer in the same vein as Jesse Lingard but his game is speed. That’s huge in his game and he’s not playing at Liverpool. When you don’t play, there is always that risk you get sold or are forced to move on. He’d be a huge signing for West Ham.
The report claims Liverpool would expect to receive a fee of around £22million for the 35-cap England man.
Last season the versatile attacker made just 17 appearances across all competitions having missed the early weeks of the campaign.

While a move for Oxlade-Chamberlain would certainly add to the options available to Moyes, recent pre-season outings may suggest prizing the Englishman away from Merseyside is difficult.
The £16.2million valued (Transfermarkt), the ex-Arsenal star has played an integral part in the preparations and Jurgen Klopp has alluded to a role at Anfield for the ‘whole season’ fitness permitting.
Ultimately additional options are required at the London Stadium, but it would seem ‘the Ox’ could be out of reach.
