West Ham face further Premier League competition for Adam Armstrong

West Ham could face yet more competition for the signature of Blackburn Rovers striker Adam Armstrong

Irons manager David Moyes is certainly in the market for a frontman this summer to offer support to Michail Antonio.

Previously linked with the Hammers, Newcastle United and Fulham, Southampton and the newly promoted Norwich City have also been added to the mix.

This is according to a fresh report from the Daily Mail, as cited by MailOnline Sport on Twitter.

The report claims the 24-year-old could be available for just £8million due to entering the final year of a contract at Ewood Park.

Armstrong has certainly earned a chance to compete at the top level having left Newcastle as a youngster to seek first-team football.

A journey that has included numerous loan spells and stints in the lower leagues, the former England youth international found a home in Lancashire last season.

Netting a stunning 28 goals and registering five assists in 40 Championship outings, top-flight interest is of little surprise.

READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Previously reported as demanding £30million for their prized asset, West Ham should waste little time in throwing their name into the hat at the current price tag.

Valued at £14.4million and with a proven record of scoring goals, signing Armstrong for as little as the mooted £8million would be a brilliant piece of business.

A natural finisher with impressive pace, the central striker would provide strong competition to Antonio whilst being capable of operating as a strike partner.

matchday.
