Former Premier League defender Matthew Upson has urged West Ham to go ‘all out’ to sign Jesse Lingard this summer.
The attacking midfielder has recently ended a loan spell at the London Stadium and returned to parent club Manchester United having made a huge impact in east London.
After Irons’ boss David Moyes admitted the club would be keen to land the 28-year-old on a permanent basis, the star could be set for a summer of speculation.
Ex-Hammers centre-back Upson has pleaded with the club to pull out all the stops in order to land the 28-cap England man in an interview with LiveScore.
I’m not sure if there’s still a future for him at Manchester United and it’s hard to know whether it will be difficult to get him. But I really feel West Ham should go all out to get him. He’s proven he fits in with the style of play and the impact he’s had since January has been phenomenal.
Lingard scored nine times and registered five assists in 16 Premier League outings for West Ham – earning a Sofascore rating of 7.19 along the way.
It has been reported previously that the Old Trafford club will demand a fee of around £30million for their asset – despite being some way off Ole Gunnar Solksjaer’s plans.

Although the need may be more pressing for a recognised striker arrival, given the influence Lingard had in the second half of the season, Moyes will be desperate to land his man.
Having resurrected his career and put himself back into England contention, the player himself will no doubt want to continue on that upward trajectory, instead of reverting back to being out of favour.
When things get moving in the transfer window – perhaps sparked by the signing of Jadon Sancho to Manchester United – the path to signing the loan star may become far clearer.
