Virals: Rumoured throwback new West Ham kits hit Twitter

West Ham could be about to follow up their best Premier League campaign in 13 years by embarking on a throwback kit design for the 2021/22 season.

As rumoured new kits begin to emerge on Twitter, some concept and some simply outrageous, three possible retro versions have been earmarked as being the basis for next years design.

According to popular the West Ham Way podcast, as cited by Irons’ Twitter account West Ham Central, the home, away and third shirt next season will be based on kits from 1999/00 and 1991/92.

Both the classic claret and blue home shirt and dark navy strip hail from Paulo di Canio’s second season in east London.

Whilst the third shirt takes inspiration from the Argentinan national team – used in the 1991/92 campaign and was designed by Bukta.

Whether the planned designs based on yesteryear versions come to fruition or not remains to be seen, however, it would be nice to see some heritage thrown in with the modern-day attire.

Looking at the replies, the potential third shirt may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but then you cannot please everybody all of the time.

Regardless of how the new kits look, Hammers will simply hope to see their current heroes walking out in them somewhere in Europe.
