West Ham have been named as a potential suitor for Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham in a report from the Telegraph.
This comes after the 23-year-old was left out of Tomas Tuchel’s matchday squad for Sunday’s clash with Manchester United.
The Hammers are joined in their interest by Premier League rivals Aston Villa, where he spent a successful loan spell, as well as interest from European clubs.
The report claims the Irons would ‘certainly’ be interested in the six-cap England man and it follows speculation that Abraham was stalling over signing a new contract at Stamford Bridge amidst uncertainty over his role within the squad.
During Abraham’s spell on loan with Villa, former Chelsea defender turned coach John Terry described his impact as ‘incredible’.
READ WEST HAM VERDICT
With six goals and two assists to his name this season, the Chelsea ace hasn’t been out of the reckoning altogether.
However, since Frank Lampard’s dismissal and Tuchel’s appointment there has been a shift in the striker role with Olivier Giroud favoured more often than not.
From a West Ham perspective signing Abraham would be a major coup and the Irons would be delighted to capitalise on a fellow London-club’s loss, especially with the pressing need for a frontman this summer.
