Burnley will demand a transfer fee in the region of £50million for West Ham target Nick Pope according to a report from Lancs Live.
The Hammers have been credited with an ‘admiration’ of Pope recently along with London rivals Tottenham who see the 28-year-old goalkeeper as the ideal replacement for Hugo Lloris.
However, Burnley have acted early to stave off any potential suitors by slapping a record-breaking price-tag on their stoppers head.
Not only would £50million break the Irons’ record transfer spend it would also eclipse the record fee for a British goalkeeper, doubling the £25m Everton shelled out on Jordan Pickford.
That’s not to say the Lancashire club aren’t within their rights to hold the stopper in high esteem.
With an average Sofascore rating of 7.16 from 24 Premier League outings, the four-times capped England ace has been outstanding for Sean Dyche’s side.

With Lukasz Fabianski’s contract situation still unresolved, David Moyes could be on the lookout for a new stopper this summer.
Although the 34-year-old Pole continues to perform for the Hammers, at some stage in the near future the Irons will need fresh blood in the department, and there’s no doubt Pope would tick all the boxes.
However, at £50million and with Burnley unlikely to get relegated this term, this is a deal with slim prospects this summer.
