West Ham forward Michail Antonio will switch international football allegiances from England to Jamaica in a bid to represent the Caribbean nation at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
According to a report from The Telegraph, Antonio will accept the call to play for the Caribbean nation, having previously turned down the opportunity in 2016 in favour of a call-up to England’s senior squad.
The 30-year-old never received a full England cap despite being called up by both Sam Allardyce and Gareth Southgate, and he now hopes to stake his claim for Jamaica, for whom he qualifies due to his grandmother’s heritage.
Antonio will now look to earn his inclusion in the Jamacia squad for CONCACAF qualifiers in September against Mexico and Costa Rica.

One West Ham player in Declan Rice may have chosen England over another country, but with hopes of a Three Lions call-up for Antonio appearing slim given the strength in attacking depth, he should take the opportunities afforded to him, especially if it brings him to a major international tournament.
With six Premier League goals this season to his name, Jamaica would likely be happy to have him on board.
London-born Antonio scores the winner against England in 2022 – it’s written in the stars.
