West Ham boss David Moyes has dismissed reports linking him with the vacant managerial position at Celtic.
The Hammers manager ruled himself out of contention for the role at Parkhead during his pre-match press conference ahead of the Irons’ clash with Manchester City on Saturday.
The 57-year-old insisted [via Evening Standard]: “I’ve got no intentions of going anywhere, I’ve spoken to David Sullivan and things are quietly ticking along. I don’t want anything to get in the way of what we’re doing.”
Celtic parted company with Neil Lennon earlier this week, with Rangers poised to end the Hoops’ endeavours to win 10 consecutive Scottish Premiership titles.
Moyes is in the midst of a superb season at the helm at West Ham and could be set to take the Irons into Europe next term.
READ WEST HAM VERDICT
Having represented the Glasgow club during his playing days and been linked with the managerial role in previous years, it’s little surprise that Moyes’ name would be touted with the Celtic job.
However, with West Ham thriving under the Scotsman, retaining his services is essential for the Irons. His name being linked with top jobs is a credit to the work he has done with the Hammers and should prompt the board to secure a new contract for him sooner rather than later.
