Blackburn  are reportedly bracing themselves for summer interest in star striker Adam Armstrong, according to Lancashire Live.

West Ham‘s interest in Armstrong has been widely speculated and this report outlines expected January transfer offers which weren’t forthcoming.

However, despite Rovers being reluctant to part with their talismanic frontman, there is a thought process that a ‘considerable fee’ for the 24-year-old could help strengthen the squad as a whole.

Going on to specify the positions within the Ewood Park club’s ranks in need of reinforcement over the summer, Lancashire Live claimed that should the ‘right offer’ come in for the former Newcastle youngster, a short-term loss could prove a long-term gain for Blackburn.

The Hammers explored other targets in January with Youssef En-Nesyri seemingly the number one priority, but recent claims from Spain have suggested that Sevilla are planning for a future with their Moroccan striker, so the Irons may have to look elsewhere.

Ivan Toney is another name on West Ham list of targets but the 24-goal ace has set about trying to earn Premier League football with Brentford.

All roads point to Armstrong at this stage. With a major hint coming from Tony Cottee this week, it would seem the Hammers might’ve earmarked their man for a summer swoop.

The striker’s form this season has certainly earned him a shot at the big time and, if any manager can extract the best out of a Championship talent, it’s David Moyes.

What constitutes a ‘considerable’ fee remains the biggest question, though, especially as Blackburn previously slapped an eye-watering £30m asking price on Armstrong.
