Former Manchester United midfielder Luke Chadwick has praised West Ham newcomer Jesse Lingard after the 28-year-old arrived on loan at the London Stadium in January.
Lingard made an instant impact with the Hammers, bagging a brace on his debut against Aston Villa, and Chadwick – who won the Premier League twice with the Red Devils – has backed the on-loan Old Trafford winger to resurrect his career in east London.
Chadwick told Caught Offside: “Everyone knows Jesse Lingard’s a great player and offers loads with his movement. He’s at the stage of his career where he needs to play regularly.
“If he keeps on with the form he showed against Aston Villa he’s going to do really well whatever club he ends up playing for.”
Lingard won’t have the chance to showcase to his parent club exactly how much he can offer due to being cup-tied as David Moyes takes his team to Old Trafford in the FA Cup tonight.
In the build-up to the match, Moyes aimed a veiled dig at his former employers by praising the time that the board have afforded Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to transform their fortunes, having been relieved of his duties in 2014 after only 10 months at the club.

Although we’ve only seen a snapshot of Lingard in a West Ham shirt to date, should he even come close to consistently emulating his start between now and the end of the season, the Hammers would surely be desperate to land him on a permanent basis.
However, with the Irons’ squad bulging with attacking-midfield options, something may have to give – Manuel Lanzini potentially being the fall guy should Lingard be signed in the summer.
