West Ham insider ExWHUemployee has done his best to send fans into a transfer frenzy by suggesting the Hammers could sign Southampton striker Danny Ings in the summer.
After the failure to sign a centre-forward in January, Irons fans may have been downbeat over the transfer dealings at the club.
Ex told his West Ham Way podcast that Ings, who has seven Premier League goals this season and 50 in his career, could be a realistic possibility at the end of the season as the 28-year-old goes in search of European football. The Irons insider said:
People may laugh at this one and I think there will be competition too, Danny Ings. His contract is up next summer as well and he’s desperate to play in Europe as well.
It seems at one point that he had more chance of doing that with Southampton than he did us. Now our chances could be much greater than theirs. So next year, if we’re in Europe and they’re not he might be someone we look at.
Since arriving at Southampton after an injury-hit time with Liverpool, the 28-year-old has netted 40 goals in 85 matches for the Saints, but he could seek pastures once more new with a dwindling contract combined with his greater ambitions.

Signing Ings in the summer would go a long way to appeasing some disgruntled Hammers who felt that an incoming striker was a necessity in January.
Of course, West Ham’s chances of Europe and therefore potentially signing the former Burnley man may hinge on Michail Antonio’s continued fitness – something which could’ve been addressed with getting a striker through the door last month.
Nevertheless, the prospect of Ings becoming a Hammer – there’s something to get excited about.
