West Ham manager David Moyes has explained the reasons for the club’s failure to sign what seemed a much-needed striker during the January transfer window, and many fans have reacted with disdain.
During his pre-Aston Villa press conference, the 57-year-old explained the Hammers’ stance on not bringing in a centre-forward, having sanctioned Sebastien Haller’s departure to Ajax early on in the window.
Moyes said: “We were looking and we want to try and pick correctly. We had money to spend after selling Seb (Haller), the owners had money to spend. We’re trying to do things differently at West Ham.”
The lack of a centre-forward arrival has heaped huge pressure on both the body and the performances of Michail Antonio as the last remaining senior recognised striker at the London Stadium.
Some of the Irons faithful have reacted on Twitter and, unfortunately, it’s a damning clean sweep of fury at Moyes’ transfer comments…
