The former Everton man has been of interest to a host of Premier League clubs but it is the Hammers who could land the 31-year-old in the final hours of the transfer window.
With a proven track record in England from his time on Merseyside, you may have suspected that the general consensus amongst Irons fans was one of welcoming the possible move with open arms.
However, with a striker still very much top of the wishlist, the possibility of signing an out and out defensive midfielder with barely any career goals hasn’t captured the imagination as it might’ve in normal circumstances.
