West Ham will be hoping to keep their dream start to 2021 going when they welcome reigning Premier League champions Liverpool to the London Stadium this evening.
Despite the teams’ contrasting fortunes last season, it’s the Hammers who come into this clash in better form after making an unbeaten start to the New Year, as well as being unbeaten in seven matches in all competitions.
David Moyes has got his charges well-organised and, up until this point, the Irons have proved to be a match for anyone, home or away. That was the case earlier in the season when West Ham went to Anfield and took the lead through an early Pablo Fornals strike.
The lead stood until shortly before half-time when Arthur Masuaku conceded a penalty for Mohamed Salah to fire home before Diogo Jota stole all three points late on. Moyes’ men will be out to exact revenge for that defeat, having been well in the contest throughout.
With new signing Jesse Lingard unlikely to be involved immediately having only signed late on Friday, here’s how we think the Irons will line up, with Moyes unlikely to change things up too much from the team which won at Crystal Palace five days ago…
