Premier League action and VAR controversy were solidified as an increasingly natural pairing after West Ham were on the receiving end of a deceptively decisive 3-0 thrashing at the hands of London rivals Chelsea last night.
West Ham had the ball in the back of the net on a couple of occasions but this was not reflected in the final score. One incident in particular overshadowed much of the conversation surrounding the game, as Jarrod Bowen had a goal ruled out for what looked to be a soft foul on Chelsea defender Thiago Silva.
Chelsea were on the back foot for much of the game as West Ham vehemently applied pressure in the London derby, but a lack of clinical edge meant that the Hammers returned from Stamford Bridge with nothing to show for their efforts.
Conversely, Chelsea put in a dogged disciplined display and were able to withstand West Ham before incisive counterattacks and a Tammy Abraham brace later killed off the game – and any hopes of a West Ham recovery.
The disallowed goal for Bowen formed the nucleus of furious debate on Twitter as these fans of various clubs clamoured to have their say…
